At Dawg-On-It Academy we cultivate a rich and fulfilling relationship between pups and their owners. We use a balanced approach (both positive reinforcement and canine-friendly corrections) in our dog training/behavioral modification techniques.
Whether your pup needs...
a simple tune-up on their manners,
fresh start on obedience skills or
to stop pulling on your walk
we're ready to help you and your canine companion become
Best Friends for life!
SERVICES
Good manners, socialization, and obedience are truly what we all want in our canine companions.
Pups of all ages and stages need guidance and directions throughout their lives to be the BFFs we've always dreamed of having.
We train skills like:
- Crate training
- Engagement through their name
- Sit/Stay
- Place
- Waiting before going through thresholds
- Heel walking
- Leave it
- Recall
We are all creatures of habit and canines are no different. Stopping bad habits and starting good ones takes time, energy, and yes, the willingness to tweak current systems.
We come alongside pet owners to:
- identify issues (i.e. what's not working).
- Work with the pup to lay the new foundation (i.e. clear rules, boundaries and expectations) to establish more desirable habits.
- Empower the pet owners with tools, tips and exercises they can implement in between session.
Trust, respect, and love are three key elements in any relationship. Building these traits in human-to-canine relationships often takes someone on the outside looking in to give a fresh perspective.
In each coaching session we:
- Seek to understand both you and your canine companion's temperaments and how they can make life adventurous from time to time.
- Explore why the pup is doing what he/she does and how that affects the pet owner.
- Equip the pet owner with solid techniques to lovingly lead their canine companions.
- Guide the relational process with the goal to help each person and canine companion live their best life together.
1. Initial Meet and Greet (60min) - People and pups are all wired so differently. That's why we begin every relationship with our Meet and Greet session. We'll set a time to get together (at my location, your place or a neutral location if needed) to talk about your hopes and dreams for your pup(s). I will listen to you and observe your pup as we chat and let you know what I see as some of the manners, skills and training I can help you and your pup achieve together. I’ll then show you how I'd work with your pup in the remainder of the session and have you try the techniques as well. If you deem this to be the start of a good working relationship we'll discuss next steps and pricing going forward. You will pay our one-time reduced rate of $50 for the session ($25 for the deposit + $25 for the trial session). If however, either of us believe this isn't what you're looking or best for your pup you don't owe the additional $25 for the trial session (Dawg-On-It Guarantee of great value).
2. Private Session w/ Karre Ann (60 min) -Working with pups and their owners is by far at the very heart of why I began the Dawg-On-It Academy. Each sessions is uniquely designed by give you the opportunity to talk through what your hopes, goals and dreams are for you and your pup, see those skills working before your very eyes and then having the chance to try it yourself with me right there to coach you along the way. What makes us unique in this is industry is the time I take to work with your pup to give them the guidance and direction they need to better follow you as their loving leader while you're there and observing. I/we take as long as it takes for the pup to get the idea of what is expected of them and then I walk you through each step as you do what I just did to achieve the desired results you're looking for. At the end of each session, I answer any questions, give clear instructions on what to work on until we meet again and of course I'm always available in between sessions to field questions as they arise at no extra charge.
3. 1-1 Pup Session (w/o owner) (45min) - Sometimes pups need some 1-1 time without their owners to work through their issues. In this pup focused session, I re-establish the foundations of good manners, healthy socialization skills, and guide them through obedience drills until I am confident they understand what is being expected of them. At the end of the session I document what we did, what needs to be done as well as send video footage of your pup making progress during the session with tips on how to carry on the good work with them on your own until we meet for a future session together.
4. Intensive Session (w/ the Pack) (3hrs) - Let's be honest, there are some skills we as humans can't teach our canine companions as well or as quickly as a canine pack can. (i.e. stability, calm surrender, respect and how to follow etc.). If you're looking for your canine companion to learn through a more immersive approach this is a service you'll love. Your pup is dropped off at our location and get to spend hours with the pack with me giving guidance as directed as needed, but truly letting my stable pack do the teaching as only they can. This is where most pups gain socialization skills and learn to get along with pups of all sizes and temperaments. At the end of the session I document what we did, what needs to be done as well as send video footage of your pup making progress during the day's activities with tips on how to carry on the good work with them on your own until we meet for a future session together.
